"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler."—Albert Einstein
Hexes Chess 3P3 is the three-player version of Hexes Chess 3-Pawn. It is a compressed chess game, so the pawns do not get a two-hex opening move, and there is no en passant rule. Its main idiosyncrasy is its odd triskelion shape. Each of its three "arms" is called a tridrant (rhymes with hydrant). Each tridrant has three files (columns), that bend 60° at the third rank. Like the two-player version, a king and knight can accomplish checkmate without help from other pieces.
