Official Hexes Chess Game Rules

All Hexes Chess games use the same basic rules, and the chess pieces move in the same way. Each game has a unique chess-piece set-up, and its own castling moves. The full-size chess games permit a two-hex opening move for pawns, and include the en passant rule. And finally, the three-player chess games have a few extra rules—one regarding who wins the checkmate when it is accomplished with help from the third player—and another rule dealing with how to determine who wins, loses or draws. For these reasons Hexes Chess provides separate illustrated rules for all six chess games.
