"What can be done with fewer is done in vain with more."—Ockham's razor
Hexes Chess 6-Pawn is an updated version of the original Hexes Chess game first published in 2003. It features a simpler set-up for the chess pieces, a new rank-and-file system, and the dark and medium hexes on the chess board have switched positions. It is a full-size chess game, so the pawns do get the option of two-hex opening moves, and there is an en passant rule. The chess board has six files (columns) and 10 ranks (rows), and like the 4-pawn board, has a "lozenge" shape. Even though it has fewer pieces and locations than square chess, Hexes Chess 6-Pawn has more degrees of freedom.
